The same energy as your children? That's how you do that

Janne-Mieke Loeffen, club manager of Happy Bodies Uden, has one great passion: keeping people fit. Do you want the same energy as your children again? Then Janne-Mieke is the right place for you. In this blog she explains why the concept of Happy Bodies helps her with her passion.

Passion to keep people fit

I have been working in the sports world since 1990. First years as a sports instructor. I taught group classes about 17 hours a week, but when I turned 50, I started to wonder if my body could handle that for another 20 years. But yes, it is my passion to keep people fit. In 2017 I chose to work as a personal trainer. The tricky thing is that if someone starts with personal training you have to estimate which weights are optimal for this person for which exercises.

Two hands

At one point I became acquainted with the Milon circle, a fully automatic circle with fitness equipment on which you train your entire body in six 35-minute workouts every month. Before someone starts training, the Milonizer scans the body based on biometric markers. This way you can be sure that all devices are automatically set correctly during training, regardless of age or any physical complaints. Ideal! When my partner, Paul van der Koevering, started as a franchisee with Happy Bodies in Uden and Schijndel in 2018, I was given the opportunity to work as a club manager at the Uden location. Of course I grabbed that opportunity with both hands.

Unique training plan for each member

There are other concepts on the market that claim to train the whole body in a few short sessions a week, but everyone works with the same training plan. What is so unique about Happy Bodies is that everyone has their own unique training plan. This way you can really take on a challenge with every member. Everything is tracked, so you can easily see the progress. Everyone, from children to the elderly, can train with us, regardless of the challenge.

More energy

That challenge can be different for everyone. One wants to lose weight, the other wants more strength, a third wants more energy. A frequently heard wish is that people want to have as much energy as their children again. In that case, a program is drawn up that is really aimed at getting more energy. That means that we will combine strength and condition in an interval training. We do the strength training eccentrically. Most strength training is concentric, then you do strength exercises that make the muscles shorter – and therefore stronger. For example, you lift a weight and on the 'way back' you quickly lower the weight, which requires little or no effort. With eccentric strength training you hold back the weight on the 'way back'. The muscle then lengthens again as it struggles to resist the opposite force of gravity. This way of training ensures that your metabolism works faster, which gives a higher afterburning and that together gives more energy. In two times 35 minutes of training per ten days! Ideal right?
