Michel Zwiers is club manager at Happy Bodies in Sassenheim, a place that suits him perfectly because of his passion for fitness and personal development. In this blog, Michel explains why he chose Happy Bodies and about the unique approach that distinguishes Happy Bodies from other sports concepts.
From lifestyle coach to club manager
I have been club manager of Happy Bodies Sassenheim since May 2023. Before taking on this role, I worked here as a lifestyle coach for almost five years. Over the years I have worked my way up to the position of manager, a role that suits me perfectly. I have always had the ambition to grow further and lead within a sports and lifestyle club. Working at Happy Bodies doesn't feel like work, it's more of a passion. I think it's great to be so involved with sports and wellness. Of course, it also helps that I know all the members personally.
Why Happy Bodies?
The choice for Happy Bodies was quite coincidental. My mother was having lunch with my sister when she ran into Michael, my current employer. He was looking for a new lifestyle coach and I was doing my training at the ALO at the time. I felt a nice connection during the first conversation, and I have been associated with Happy Bodies ever since.
A unique approach to fitness
Happy Bodies distinguishes itself by its personal approach; Guidance is our first priority. We not only offer support but also motivation, because we notice that people sometimes experience a sports slump or lose sight of their goal. But what really makes our club special is the atmosphere. We are often told that it feels like a warm bath, even from elderly athletes, which is of course a wonderful compliment. People feel seen here, but not watched. Unlike many other gyms, which are full of large mirrors, we have a homely atmosphere. Everyone can do their own thing, but if there is a need for social contact, that is also possible. You grab a coffee or tea and sit at the coffee table. It makes us just that little bit more social.
The Milon Circle: A Revolution in Fitness
An important part of the Happy Bodies concept is the Milon circle. What we like about the Milon circle is that it makes exercising simple and accessible to everyone. This is a fully automated circuit training that only takes 35 minutes and contains both strength and cardio elements. This makes it ideal for a wide range of fitness goals. Whether you want to build muscle mass, lose weight, improve your cardiovascular health or just work on your overall fitness, you can do it with the Milon circle. The system is computer controlled, which greatly increases ease of use. Each member receives a personal wristband on which all relevant data is stored, so that everyone can work at their own level and according to their own goals. Another major advantage is the safety of the training. Thanks to an advanced body scan, all equipment is perfectly adjusted to the athlete, so that you are always loaded correctly.
Beyond the circle
At Happy Bodies Sassheim, in addition to the Milon circle, we also work with free exercises, which we perform in the functional training zone. I notice that our members really appreciate that. The variation in exercises keeps the training interesting. We can also help our members very specifically with their personal goals, such as improving mobility, flexibility and balance. Things are just going really well here in the club and that is great to see.
